Canadian European Travellers - Don't get fooled by the rise in the Canadian loonie
Yes, the loonie is at a 30 year high of +97 cents to the American dollar and we will probably see parity soon.
However, that strength is largely due to the dismal performance of the American dollar.
What does a Euro cost in Canadian money?
1 Euro = 1.43778647 Canadian dollars
30 day lowest (Aug 20) 1.42491
120 day lowest (Jun 12) 1.41725

Canadian "loonie"!! eh?
Obviously I haven't been to Canada recently (used to go quite a bit back in the 70's and 80's to Toronto to visit DH relatives) and I'd never heard that term.

However, I have taken trips in the past few years when the loonie was about 2.60 to the GBP, and when it was about 1.65 to the Euro. Of course your point is generally correct, though. Canadians should look past the US dollar when determining currency strength.

You are right WillTravel but...
Friends keep telling us what a great time it isto travel what with the power of our dollar and the family expects better presents to reflect this increased buying power so this is my disclaimer (and my way of telling them that we will continue to eat and drink their inheritance!!)
