Can you take your self phone with you?

And if not, why not? I live in D.C. and am planning trips to Mexico City and Italy.

Yes, you can take it with you.

You probably can't use it to have a telephone conversation, though, at least not in Italy - - though you can with some "dual" (GSM-equipped) phones, such as certain models offered by Nextel, for example).

The reason is different transmitter/receivers - - that run the "cells".

I don't know about Mexico.

If you mean your CELL phone, sue you can take it with you, but chances are unless you have signed up for some expensive overseas program it's not going to work outside the USA. In fact, it probably won't work beyond about Ohio if you live in DC unless you have a special plan.
