I've actually started copying my post into Notepad before clicking on "Post my Reply" so I can actually not have to type it all in again. What a drag!!!

Funny how I can post to this thread without any problems. Must be that this one is "special".

Is that true, Janis? Really? (That they've been deleting complaints about site performance??)

That's no good... How else will they know about the problems, if they choose to not hear us?

Pheww! They haven't deleted them... I didn't think they were that unresponsive. (And, unwilling to hear our problems) In fact, here are some from ages ago... (Feb 2003)

Hello...
I am the Phantom of the Forums.

Your cries have not gone unheard.

Here's some of the inside scoop...
We upgraded our coldfusion version, and it caused several problems for us (by overwriting our existing configuration in favor of it's own). Over the week we changed several parameters, which I won't bore you with... But, the end of all this, is that I want to know if it's had an effect. The last of the changes would have been as of about 12:30pm today...

Have problems of not being able to login, posts being dropped etc. been reduced since that time?

I definitely would appreciate feedback...

Thanks.

Or... Fodor's had decided to join the San Francisco lock-out

Today everything seem to run smoothly.

And it's nice to meet you, ghost! Oh, sorry, it's phantom!

yes, it did all start with that putrid green banner. From that moment it went all downhill and it affected some brainds.

Thank you for the response!!

Nice to be kept in the loop instead of in the dark.

Regardless of the growing pains, it's still a great site.

Phantom -- YES things are going much better since about midday today.

I'm on a old-version browser and was afraid that when you got things sorted out I wouldn't be able to access the site. But so far so good. keeping my fingers crossed.

Thanks for the update -- as long as folks know things are being worked on they will usually be a lot more patient.

I can't seem to post on one of the threads. I tired three times, but it didn't post. However, I posted without any difficulty on another thread a minute later. Let's see whether this posts.

I've had to "re-log in" once this evening to be able to post - - since the "big" fix/improvement mentioned by Phantom, from yesterday evening.

Ugh.

Yep...

I see that the problems haven't gone away...

Still looking, working with Macromedia...

Apologies...

Apologies accepted. Except, one writes a long post and clicks "post my reply" and out into cyberspace it goes, lost forever.

But we are a patient group, are we not?

Happy Thanksgiving Phantom.

Still looking, working with Macromedia...

I sure hope you guys at Fodors were smart enough not to build this site using anything Macromedia has to offer. There are so many kinks in Dreamweaver it's amazing designers actually get their sites to work. It seems to me any serious sophisticated site design (especially with forums and e-commerce) requires a code master. The masters don't rely on Macromedia. (Plus, Macormedia's consult fees are insane.)

Suddenly, the ongoing problems with this site are becoming clearer. Sorry, folks, I'm not very hopeful.

They're using ColdFusion, NYFS. And trying to upgrade it on the fly.

Patience is a virtue.

I have some quasi-humorous screen captures with ColdFusion error messages and "trails" displayed instead of the thread list and more things nobody would care to see, except...maybe...The Phantom?

I know how to read and I know what I'm talking about, thank you.

ps Didn't I read somewhere that you quit this site? A little indecisive?
