Can you recommend drivers to take us from Rome to Naples, Naples to Positano?

My fiance and I are marrying in Positano and want the first part of our trip (right before the wedding) to be relaxing and hassle-free. (I'll be lugging around my wedding dress as well as luggage). We arrive in Rome and need to go directy to Naples to get paperwork signed for our marriage. From Naples we would need to go to Positano. What websites should we look at for drivers? Thank you!!

I can highly recommend Giovanni and Giancarlo Gargiulo at Tourofitaly.com. Wonderful guys, speak English very well, reliable, and extremely funny!

You can also check out Franceso Marrapese through his e-mail at: [email protected]. He just started a business in the Sorrento/Naples area, and has been contributing a lot of good info on this forum!

Congratulations, and have a great time in Positano, one of my very favorite places in the world.

It's easy to get the train from Rome to Naples.

From Naples to Positano there is sometimes a boat service (Metro del Mare) which sounds easy, as it takes you to the jetty in the heart of Positano; but unfortunately it wasn't running when we were there recently. If it is, though, I think this would be a more romantic way to arrive than by car.

In our case, with the boat suspended & since getting buses would have got us in too late, we reluctantly booked a car & driver. Based on recommendations on this board I booked with Mario Cuomo. He accepted the booking to take us exactly where we wanted to go - a mile or two outside Positano - & quoted €80. Perhaps naively, I got the impression that he would be driving us himself & so didn't anticipate tipping on top of that. But in the event we got an employee so felt obliged to tip him an additional €10. And he said it was impossible to take us right to where we were going - despite our booking having been made on that basis - and just dropped us off in the middle of Positano.

(Note : much of central Positano is inaccessible by car &, depending on where you are staying, a driver may need to drop you off at the square & let you walk the rest of the way, with a porter to take your bags. (€3 each I think.) But we weren't staying in Positano.)

Hi mc,

Have you considered flying into Naples and getting a driver from there?

We were pleased with Limousine Service Sorrento (Renato Cuomo)

Also consider Francesco. He has started his own business. He might give you a better price. http://www.francescomarrapese.com/

Yes, it's expensive, but with luggage AND a wedding dress in tow, go for the driver. I'd suggest getting in touch with any of the drivers mentioned here, and asking if they'd work out a flat rate for the entire day ( Rome pickup, Naples drop-off, wait for you in Naples, then on to Positano.) Good luck!

Relaxing and hassle-free is not the train just before a wedding, carrying a wedding dress no less.

I was quoted about 300euro for a driver to take me to Positano from Rome. Call some of these recs and get a set price like the previous poster wrote. I would try Francesco.
