I'm not a huge theater fan. I find it very hard to sit still so long and particulary to have to pay so much for the pleasure of sitting still that long. But I LOVED the Shakespeare abridged. Also saw Phantom of the Opera. Beautiful production (but too long to sit still!)

Blood Brothers was wonderful!!!

Another very strong recommendation for Jerry Springer the Opera. It's brilliant. It's already been picked up for a Broadway transfer, so see it first, and with it's orginal cast.
It will give you a tiny insight into a British view of America, and you will hurt from laughing. |
It 's been around soooo long that people knock and mock it but if you haven't seen it, it's still a hoot and well worth it, The Mousetrap.
Also loved Blood Brothers(yes I laughed but cried at the end) and The Woman in Black(spooked me I admit) productions you don't usually see in the U.S. |
We were just in London in April and saw Ragtime...it was amazing, wonderful cast, great music, talented singers! And a great story line!

I was in London in March and saw Our House. Depending on the age of the adults, you might enjoy this. It's based on the music of the 80's band Madness. I know, I know, but it was really entertaining.
I also saw Woman in Black. It's a very sterotypical old-fashoined English ghost story with hokey effects but, again, lots of fun. It is one of the plays that schools can go to as a required Standard of Learning or whatever they're called, so our section was packed with 14-year-old schoolgirls. This actually added to the experience since they were overexcited and screamed easily at all the scary parts! beany |
