can you recommend a picnic spot in or near Positano or Capri?

We will be spending 4 nights in Positano (at Hotel L'Ancora thanks to all the recommendations I've read) and 3 on Capri (Caesar Augustus) for the second part of our honeymoon. We'd love to pack a picnic and are looking for any advice you might have to offer... would also love to get to the picnic by boat if you have any ideas on that. My first trip to the Amalfi Coast and I can't wait!
And if anyone has picnic advice in or around Florence, Siena or Spoleto, I'd love to hear that too!
Thanks much!

On Amazon.com/uk there is a book which I used for hiking trails and picnic areas on Amalfi Coast. It is a Sunflower Landscapes book by Julian Tippett. There is a map and good suggestions for picnic areas.
The hills along the coast have alot of trails and it would be nice for you to chose your own, that way you are more likely to be alone.

Hi,

It is possible that your hotel might be able to recommend a picnic trip.

On Capri, for a picnic-with-a-view take the chairlift from Anacapri up Monte Solaro. Views of the whole of Capri and the Bay of Naples!

Or for a beach picnic on Capri I'd suggest Marina Piccola (- though you won't be alone in high season).

In Positano there are several boat hire companies if you want to find your own secluded little cove ...

Hope this helps ...

Steve

At il Deserto, a monestary above Sant' Agata sui Due Golfi. Quiet, fragrant, no tourists and spectacular views. Unforgettable. Open 3 to 6pm.
If you're up for a hike, try Punta Campanella at the tip of the penninsula. Actually, this is also reached by boat.
