Can you recommend a brand of luggage?
i was looking at the 24" bags on ebags (3-4 days), and there are a lot under $200. i'm looking for something with a minimum of pockets or "suiter," easy to handle, etc.
does anyone love a particular brand?
thank you!

I have a travelpro bag that has gone through 6 years of regular demanding business travel and is still going strong.
If you have a TJ Maxx or Marshall's or Tuesday Morning Store, they are often less than $100 for last years model. Maybe a change of outside pouch, etc., but consistent quality.
Hope you find what you need. Have a great trip.

For various family members I have bought several pieces of the Eternity 4 series by Atlantic Luggage. Three were the carry-on expandable suiter and one was the 24" expandable suiter. We've all been well pleased. The best price I found for these was at www.bagit.com. Fast service and free shipping, too.

I use a 24" bag from Atlantic and I really like it. It is the Professional series. But now I find that it is too heavy. I think it weighs about 12 lbs.
They are also introducing a line at the end of the month called Frontier Lite and it will include a 24" bag.
I am now looking for the lightest luggage I can find that is durable. So I am going to give it a shot.
The current 25" Frontier can be purchased on line for about $60.
I live near an Atlantic factory store and it can be purchased for about $40 limited to existing stock since they are closing that line out. It weighs 9lbs. 10 oz.

I went to Macy's and got a great lesson on luggage. For one look for a warranty. Also look for the quality of the covering. The better is Ballistic nylon and gauge that is about 1200 or above. The Denier polyester is not as strong as the ballistic nylon. You should go to a good luggage place and check what makes a good luggage. I bought 2 pieces from Macys and it did not last one trip. You usually pay for what you get. I did look on e-bay and saw one brand that was ballistic nylon and that looked exactly like the Samsonite line the guy in Macy's wanted to sell me for 400.00 Good Luck

all,
thanks for the advice. after perusing the bags again, i ended up with a samsonite w/ "spinner" wheels. 10 year warranty and weighs 9-10lbs. not the ballistic nylon, but 1800 denier. guess that's why it's lighter. here's the link if anyone is interested:

i'm looking for a bag to check, not carry-on. i have plenty of those!
