can you help me understand this?

Hi
I'm looking at the trainitalia website because I need to buy tickets from Rome to POTENZA PICENA. When I type the latest, it shows like this: POTENZA PICENA-MONTELUPONE.I don't know if this is the name of the station or just the name of two cities. I know that they are two cities that are very close to each other. So what does it mean? Does the train stop in both or that's the name of the station for Potenza Picena?
What do you think?

IL - It means it's the name of the station which serves both villages - NOT that it stops in both places.

Hope this helps ...

Steve

Thanks Steve
but where does it stop in Potenza or Montelupone?

Chances are that the stop is not in either village and that you will have to take a bus to one or the other.

The first car in the train stops in Potenza and the last in Montelupone. Vice versa when train comes in the other direction.

Italylove:

Actually, as a compromise, the station is neither in Potenza Picena nor Montelupone. It is in Porto Potenza on the adriatic coast. Potenza Picena lies 5 miles inland, so you will have to organise a transport from the station to the town proper (if it is any consolation, Montelupone is even farther inland...).

You might check this kind of information on the trenitalia website unter "trains and stations": there is a link to area maps

Hope this helps, enjoy your trip.

Phil.
