EAT,

Plan to eat, drink, and be merry as you ride the rails in Europe. We brought picnic lunches onto the train many times in Germany and Italy without any problems. Lots of travelers do. I don't imagine it's any different in England or France.

Offer to share what you bring with any compartment mates you may have. It's a great way to meet people and they've always offered to share with me. It's really neat and who know's what kind of person you might get to know. I've met people on trains in Germany who were from Portugal and we communicated in a bit of German, French, English and Spanish and had a great time sharing each others food and wine. Enjoy!
