Good news- they have a double room, with a view, available. Thanks everyone.

Hey bd,

Just reporting back in. The Alpenrose was excellent - you will love it and the whole area. Just gorgeous. You can see more detailed info on my trip report if you are interested. Feel free to ask any questions.

Thanks Fun4all4 - I did see, and enjoy, and even comment on your trip report.

This trip seemed so far away for so long, and all of a sudden it's right around the corner and I still have so much to do: deciding and obtaining a train pass for the Swiss portion, and booking hotels and a car for the Austrian part.

hi bd - I used the advice from the board and used BETS for my train passes. The agent was extremely knowledgeable, never seemed to mind my dozens of questions, gave me all the time I needed, researched the few questions he couldn't answer and called me back (twice!). There was no charge for shipping and the passes arrived in 2 days! I would recommend them.

No problem, Fun4all4 - It's not like a picked the most memorable screen name!

Kwren- I was planning on calling them too, but was hoping to determine a rough itinerary once we're in Wengen so they can help determine the best pass to get. It's good to hear the passes arrived so quickly.
