Can we leave Siena, stop in Assissi on our way to Orvieto?

We will leave Siena by car on Sunday morning. Will we have enough time to see Assissi on our way to orvieto where we will spend the night before we head to Rome the next day.

Is this doable?

You can do that, but Assissi has a lot to see. Orvieto is absolutely charming but much smaller. If I were spending my last night, I would go directly to Orvieto and soak up the last ambiance of the trip.

Hi Debby
Siena-Assisi-Orvieto would be a very zig-zag journey going east, south and then west.
Assisi is so wonderful that any effort to see it is worth it but speadening a night there is even better.

I am agree with the previous postings too much....can be done, but too much is too little in my opinion.

FYI: Orvieto is probably twice the size of Assissi. (Not "much smaller.")

I think it is a fine way to spend the day...with plenty of time to see whatever you'd like to see in Assissi (you can walk up and down every street in town in an hour!) after your drive there, even leisurely drive. Another drive to Orvieto (I'd take back roads, down by Spello and such), have dinner and walk around town that night/next day before you leave.

Assisi just got smaller as I'm taking away an "s"...would be good idea to proofread before not after!
