Can the 2 bdm Paris Perfect apts convert twin beds in 2nd bdm to one bed?

Hi all!

Now for next year, our best friends are considering spending 1 of the 3 wks we will be in Paris. They will have their 5 yr old in tow. Another couple friend may also join us for another one of the weeks ( no children in tow). This will be in June 2012.

He is a very small 5 yr old and so sleeping on the couch or fold out bed is not a worry.

We are renting from Guest Apartment Services in about 2 weeks and found a 2 bdm for next year, the Gloriosa, from them that's perfect in every way: price, location, size, decor, air conditioning, elevator, high floor apt, except that there is no real accomodations for the 5 yr old as the couch is not a pull out and they do not provide a cot for children over 2. Fair enough, it's their policy which I can totally respect. They asked me to look at their apts that are suitable for 5 or more.

So while I am completely enthralled by Guest Apartment Services, I am having trouble with their apartments suitable for adding the 5 yr old. I do like the Lavande apt, and love the Marais, but not sure about the upper Marais. I was hoping for this couple who have not been to Paris the chance to stay closer to the Seine and the second couple have only been to Paris once for 4 days. We all get along swimmingly by the way and have traveled together many times.

Here are the Lavande and Gloriosa apts.

Anyway, getting to my point about Paris Perfect. So I jumped on their site again, this time looking at the 2 bdms. I saw a few that fit our needs except I see that alot of the 2nd bedrooms mostly have twin beds. Does anyone know this answer: Can they be converted to 1 bed? I called them and left a msg detailing what I am looking for with the concern of the twin bed situation and I am awaiting a return call. I did not see anything mentioned on their website, but I could be missing it. In the meantime, I thought I would just ask all of you. We want it so our couples can sleep in one bed and the 5 yr old can sleep on a convertible. We will take the master bedroom for ourselves in any apt we choose and our friends know this. We for sure need 2 bathrooms, that is a must I cannot compromise on.

Any thoughts are most appreciated. We are trying to stick to a 3100E or less budget per week and will split that between both our couple friends for each of the 1 wk stay they are coming for and perhaps the third week, my niece might come or we will just have the apt to ourselves; DH and I. The bigger the better on the apt so we don't feel we are top of each other. We loved it that the Gloriosa was 1200 sq ft!

Thanks a mil....

Oh and we are renting the 1 bedroom Snowdrop apt from Guest Apartment Services in about 2 weeks from now and really have been so impressed with GAS service all the way through so far.

Lots of beds in Europe look like double beds but are 2 twins pushed together.

You really need to hear from Paris Perfect since it seems as though you're asking them to take away the twin beds and mattresses and substitute a double bed and mattress. Only they can answer this question for you.

Well, certainly you or the Paris Perfect people can push the two twins together to make a double bed - that's the norm in lots of hotels in France anyway - but if you actually want them to bring in a "real" double bed instead of two twins, that's pretty cheeky. No rental unit owner I've ever met would consider going to that length to please a client.

No clue what you actually mean by "convert" the two twins to a double. How would you do that, other than by pushing them together and using double sheets?

Just push the beds together. I wouldn't ask a company to bring in another different bed. Geesh!
I wanted to know if they use that strip that changes two beds into one.

St Cirq,

Some establishments have twins that bolt together and a double mattress topper to convert the twins to a double or queen, depending on size of the beds. That is the most I would expect.

I've stayed in a lot of twin bed rooms in Europe and in every one you could push the beds together or apart.

I don't know anything about a "strip."

They usually are able to "zip" the beds together.....perhaps that's the strip that tripgirl refers to.

Exactly Judy

Just thought someone would have 1st hand experience with Paris
Perfect and this situation

I never just assume something can be done, I have
to always ask

Ive been to Paris and Europe for that matter for many yrs and have slept
in beds that were converted into 1. I've seen the zipper or strip as I
refer to it used

Just wanted to see if Paris Perfect has that capability as my experience
only has extended to hotels, I don't know if apts and in this case if
Paris Perfect allows it or what

Thanks!

I don't know, but I understand why you are asking. It isn't just pushing two beds together, it is the way they are made up as one unit, I've been in European hotels that do that, it's real common in Central Europe.

If they have as great service as they claim, they ought to answer your email the same day, so I'm sure they'll say. But if I had to bet, they cannot be made into one bed or it would say so. All normal businesses that do that with rental apts make it clear on their website as it is a selling point.

My experience was with Paris Perfect....but I can only address the apartments I've stayed in. They may not have the same bedding in each apartment. They'll call back.

Next month I'm staying in a Paris Perfect apartment which sleeps seven but that puts 2 people in a queen sized bed which can't be converted to twins. We are 7 adult women, none of whom want to share a queen sized bed for a week. I asked PP if they could rent a rollaway bed (which we'd pay for). Their response was no but they suggested we go to BHV and buy a blow up mattress which will fit on the floor in the study.

Does the Gloriosa apartment have room for something like that. It may be cheaper than renting a larger apartment!

Thanks Judy for your thoughtful reply as you always know how to be helpful and kind

I asked GAS if they could supply a cot and they said no

I didn't ask if we could purchase our own and bring it in, but truthfully I'm not keen on doing that and assume that GAS might not like it as they don't even do that. They only provide extra bedding for 2 yrs old and under; a crib takes up less room, so I understand their rational

But good idea Judy and I appreciate your input

Judy:

The list is:

Tresallier

Rully

SaintEstephe: which I looked at more closely and here on that page they do state that the twins can be zipped together to form a king. So this makes me a tad worried if they only mentioned it for this apt, that the others that have twins they wouldn't be able to do this??

Sauternes

Vougeot

The Sauternes I believe is in that building that you rented from those nice people from Calif that I went as far as to contact through VRBO. Alas they are already sold out for June and I know my friends, they would prob like Sauternes better. You had mentioned it was odd that Sauternes had a balcony as you never saw one!

Sauternes and Vougeot are the smallest and I don't want to feel like we are in too tight quarters. But they are very nice and I love the balcony at Sauternes.

I like the looks of all these I listed

Some have a/c , some don't. I was doing the A/C thing for one of the couples who prefer it, but I don't think in June it will be bad. Heck, even now in Paris in the middle of summer its cool!

Thoughts Judy and all???

Judy ( and others)

I think I'm leaning towards Rully. I see that in the text they mentioned A/C ( 1st paragraph)but not in their actual bullet point listing.

Thoughts

What you are looking for in a dual king bed. It can bed twins or a king. If you look at the Paris Perfect overview for the apartment it will tell you. They do have many with dual kings. I think even the 1 bedroom Champagne has a dual king. Also they have many 'specially made in Ital'y trundles that make into 2 separate beds....

I think the best for all apts..(if they have the space) is the dual king bed..

a bientot..
