Can non-Italians register on the Trenitalia web site ?

I am trying to register on the Trenitalia site but apparently need to live in Italy to do so. Am I doing something wrong? Is there another way to register besides "Charter Arrow"? I would like to be able to get an invoice for my tickets after I purchase them.

Yes - you can book without registering (as you probably saw, to register you have to provide an Italian address). On the following page, the last paragraph is proof: "If you bought your ticket without being registered"

Manage your ticket

To manage your purchase you can log into your area, go to Purchased Travel and visualise the journey you wish to modify.

Alternatively, you can manage your ticket by using the following form, filling in with the PNR and the email used for the purchase.

If you bought your ticket without being registered, you can retrieve your ticket filling in your name, surname and Code for retrieving the purchase (CRA) that appears on the post -payment page.

You need to select the Italian name for the US under registration Country of Birth(even on the English version - Trenitalia always uses Italian spellings for cities, etc.). Scroll to S - Stati Uniti d'America.

I did find the Italian name for the US but it still wanted an address in Italy so it won't let me register

Did you try skipping that section? The registration is also for loyalty cards which have to be mailed, so perhaps you can skip that section.

Or give the address of a hotel...

It seems other people are able to register by selecting Stati Uniti.
