Just got back from there 3/19/02..... wouldn't take anywhere I was! I still had a bunch from Salzburg since I was going back through Vienna... anytime I puled one out the head shaking NO started immediately!

Even in Switzerland... there are only a very few places that will take the euro... just the 12 countries that have officially converted as of now..

The Euro is not legal tender there, no. You might find shops who accept it at a rate of exchange they set themselves, but I wouldn't recommend it.

The hotel I'll be staying at in Prague next month specifically says that they accept any convertible currency. But I wouldn't expect their exchange rate to be the best, so I'm planning on using Czech currency.

Euro is not some paneuropean currency. It is currency of those EU-countries that chose to adopt it. Czech and Switzerland are not even EU-countries. EUROPE IS NOT A COUNTRY.

Message to "Euro ([email protected]),
LIGHTEN UP! No one suggested that Europe was a country. Where in heaven's name did you get that? Sheesh. Go back into your hole.
