Can I still visit Europe if my Passport expires within the next 90 days?

I am travelling to Paris and Berlin over the next 10 days and my passport expires in 60 days, I read all over the internet that I may have a problem getting there since France and Germany both require your passport to be valid for at least 90 days. Has anyone been denied entry?

So I actually already left without renewing my passport and this is what happened. Nothing really, most of the ticket agents just reminded me that my passport will be expiring soon. The closest I was to being denied was when I was first heading to Europe the gate agent simply said that he could deny me from entry since it will expire within the next 90 days, but said I will need to renew it as soon as I get back. My advice, if you have enough time to renew your passport before you leave then do it, but if your passport doesn't expire until at least a month after you return, just renew it when you come back.

OK - I am very (VERY) confused. You ask the question and twelve minutes later you have arrived in Europe and solved the 'problem' . . . . :?

Obviously wesleyt3 can beam himself to Paris in seconds which is why he was allowed into France with less than 90 days on his passport. He can probably just beam himself back on day 89.

Passports are valid for 10 years. How could you not have had sufficient time to renew it?

WOW - can I get this beam machine to get to Europe in 12 minutes?

And the point of your post was? Why not just renew your passport before / by the due date like most normal people?

Dukey1 Jul 13th, 2013 11:52 PM

My advice is figure out when your passport expires and do try to fit a renewal in between all your Facebook and Twitter activities, etc.

I'm sorry, but why would you post a question and then say you had already made a decision and here is what happened????

Wesley is a first time poster - I don't usually jump to conclusions but perhaps a troll?

ALSO the operative phrase was from the gate agent who said he "could" deny him.

It does irk me that you have to renew your passport so far in advance, and fit it into your travel schedule. As you probably know, when you renew, they make it effective when they process it, and void your prior passport, so you don't really get the 10 years you paid for; we lost 9 months with our last renewal.

I'm sure that with my British passport they didn't do that. I specifically checked, and it was valid until the regular renewal date, not the shortened one
