Can I rent a car in Rothenburg ob der Tauber
 

Are there any car rental agencies in Rothenburg? If not, where would the closest be? Thanks for your help. Barb

Barb...a major tourist destination on the Romantic Road...car rental, yes.

Unfortunatelky, neither Rothenburg or Steinach (the closest larger town and where you have to change trains for R-burg if you are arriving by rail) appear on AutoEurope's dropdown list for Germany.

You might want to call them and ask if Kemwell, their "sister company" can offer cars in those locations.

Other failry close places would be Nurnberg and possibly Ansbach

You can definitely rent cars at Wurzburg, the first stop on the RR

I will definitely call and see if Kemwell can help me out. I know I can get a car in Wurzburg but we had already decided to skip Wurzburg so now I don't really want to backtrack. I also know I can get one in Nurnberg and I thought about renting the car a day early by taking the train from Rothenburg to Nurnberg, spend the day in Nurnberg then drive back to our hotel in Rothenberg. I may still decide to do that. We can then get an early start down the Romantic Road in the morning. Thank you for the suggestions. Barb

Stu T, we will be arriving by train from Aachen where we are visiting friends. I'm have two rental quotes and am waiting on one more. Looks like we will pick up in Nurnberg and drop off in Fussen. Thanks for all the help. Barb
