Can I fake a main destination for getting Schengen visa?
 

HI,

I want to travel to Spain in the 1st week of July but the next available visa appointment at San Francisco consulate is July 30th!! So, I was thinking of travelling to Lisbon and getting to Spain from there. For the sake of the visa, I will book 6 days of hotels in Portugal and 6 in Spain. But I only plan to spend a maximum of 3 days in Lisbon and the next 9 days in Spain. Is this going to create problems? Especially since I am in the US on H1B visa.

I guess you could say there might be some problems associated with lying to the consulate, but you can give it a try if you want. All you could loose is your H1B visa, and be deported.

Why would that be wrong?
The consulate does not care if someone has a change of plans and decides to visit Spain sooner than planned.... as long as it happens within the duration of the Schengen Visa..

Is there a way one can give advice to the OP without calling her stupid ?

Not knowing what passport the OP holds, it's difficult to predict what whould happen, but it's obvious she needs a visa before arriving in Spain or Portugal. Loosing the H1B is serious for those who need one to work in the US.
