Can anyone tell me why on sometimes all the messages disappear?
I was wondering... I'm guessing because Fodors is cleaning house, but I don't know for sure. Can anyone tell me?

I don't know but it sure is frustrating.
One of my major pet peeves is a website that doesn't operate consistently well.

It seems as if their server loses steam sometimes and can't push the categories to a retrievable level.

When it first started happening, months ago as I recall, I thought it was probably a Netscape problem but now I'm sure it is a Fodors' problem. Surely they are very aware of it -- why it hasn't been remedied is a mystery.

Anybody else have a theory?

This has become unbearable! Is it just happening to a few of us or does everyone have problems with these forums at Fodors.com? I have high-speed access and have no problems with other websites.

To clarify my problem: It took me a good 5 minutes to post the previous message and I just now was able to access this site again to see if it posted. Elapsed time: @ 32 minutes - to read one post!

Anna - - it really is terrible this weekend. This is NOT typical, and occurs infrequently (a half dozen times in the past two years?) - - sometimes, there have been outright outages of 24-72 hours (or more?)

I hope you'll come back. It may herald some improvements in functionality (we can only hope).

Best wishes,

Rex
That disappearing act happened to me several time last night, Sunday Jan 13.. don't know, I thought it was mu computer, but then it came back up ok..

This Fodors site is a great free service, even if it doesn't work perfectly some times. They don't owe us anything. I'm afraid that if people complain too much, they might just close the whole thing down.
