Can anyone recommend a swimming pool in Paris with good access?
 

Wondering if anyone has seen a pool in Paris which might be suitable for me. I will be staying near the Luxembourg Gardens and am keen to use a swimming pool. I need a pool with good access. I mean access into the pool such as a ramp into the water. I can see there are some pools in that area but have not been able to view the access options on the sites.

I used the pool at St Germain in the 6th last year , which is on the list given by kerouac.

I assume there was an elevator - the pool is under the Marche St Germain. I did not see any ramp to get into the water, but if you look at the pictures on their site, there does seem to be an apparatus for lifting people in and out.

Hours are fairly restricted - you can see them on 'Horaires' Usually 7-8.30 in the morning, 2 hours at lunch, and then about 4 hours in the evening. I like swimming in the morning, and enjoyed walking through fairly empty streets at 7.30, and then coming home to the apartment we were renting, where everyone was still asleep!

It is true that the municipal swimming pools are totally beholden to hours that are not used by local schools.

Carlux - When had looked at the site you mentioned prior to posting my question I was particularly drawn to the piscine-saint-germain 2929. I will be so close to it and the prospect of using it before breakfast or in the evening is inviting.

They do show a picture which I think is an elevator. I also saw the picture of a wheelchair. They may not have walking ramp access in to/out of the water. I can walk but if the option is to be lifted in/out that will suffice.

As for hours available. We have the same restrictions in Australia during school days and it's potentially even more of an issue during our school holidays in summer with "Learn to Swim Classes" which impact also on the hydrotherapy pool.

Have a good time. People probably thought I was strange to be swimming in Paris, but it was one of the nicest things I did when we were there. Here in the Dordogne we are lacking public pools.

There is an excellent swimming facility at Montparnasse, not far from Luxembourg garden. There are two large pools located below grade on the north side of the complex. The facility is closed for renovation until November 20th.
