Can anyone recommend a nice inexpensive hotel in AMSTERDAM?

I am looking for a nice inexpensive hotel in Amsterdam for $100 or less for a single room. (centrally located). Thanks!

I have stayed at the Amstel Botel, this is a boat hotel about 250 yards from the centraal station. It was clean and nice, for about $75. Not a charmer but comfortable and convenient to the station

We arrived in Amsterdam without a hotel reservation and stayed at the Victorie Hotel. It a little south of Rembrandtsplein but right on tram route.
I think we payed around $70 (breakfast included) and the rooms were fine.

Be careful, the hotels in Amsterdam leave a lot to be desired. Read my post on the Ambassade.

Contrary to the unfair generalisation made by the last contributor to this thread, Amsterdam has some great hotels.

Check out the Hotel Rembrandt Renaissance on Herengracht. A very good inexpensive 3 star in a great location only 2 minutes walk from Dam.

Check out http://www.bookings.nl/hotels/nova.
My wife and I stayed there in November and the winter rate was about $70. Great location near Dam Square, reception is friendly and the breakfast buffet is great.
