Can anyone recommend a meeting place in Montpellier TGV station?

Hello everyone, we will be meeting a young friend at Montpellier TGV station who will be at the end of a long trip from Oz. Is there an obvious meeting spot anyone can recommend please?

We met some friends at the top of the escalator up from the train platforms. The bigger problem was finding the train station. We didn't find it to be well signed. Leave yourself plenty of time to find the station & park the car. There is a long-term lot, but we finally found our way to the front of the Gare, parked, and met our friends.

Good luck.

Thank you. Appreciate input from someone who has actually been there! Is it a very large station CJT0427?

It is not very big.

Problem with parking is that there are many one way streets around the pedestrianised centre and at present there are diversions in place due to construction work for tramline 3.

I would suggest you park further out and take the tram to the station.

No, the train station didn't seem all that large. As I recall, there are some shops. The ticket windows are at the far end as you go in the front door. There are stairs down to the platforms & the escalator is on the far side between the ticket windows & stairs.

If you can find your way to Place Comedendie (sp) afterwards, it's a nice place to have lunch. We had some good pizza at one of the cafes with seating on the place. There's an underground parking lot there.

Hi Ozgirl

We arranged to meet friends last April - they were due in by TGV from Paris. Our designated spot was MacDonalds - right across the road from the station, and you can only exit from one direction, so virtually impossible to miss!

Our only snag was that the train strike meant their train from Paris didn't appear at the designated time, and the station staff were so frantic trying to sort the whole mess out, that no one was interested in trying to speak enough English to explain what was going on. So we missed our friends . . . and that was the only day our travel plans overlapped with theirs. Hope you have better success! Di

Thanks guys. The construction work may be a nuisance we have to work around. We are also picking up a second rental car when we collect our friend so very useful to have the update re the current situation, thanks.
