Which museums or monuments in Paris, Lyon, Avignon, & Nice DON'T allow cameras?

It's inconceivable that anyone could put together a comprehensive list for you, but I would operate under the assumption that most won't.

There was a fairly comprehensive post on this in the last week or so which you can search for.

Some that used to allow cameras (Orsay) no longer do, and none allow flash.

Most museums did ban photographing, because the majority of visitors demanded it. Hordes of visitors taking photographs with cameras or mobile phones are a nuisance for those who just want to look at the exhibitions.

It's difficult to state which museums and monuments ban photos. Flash photos are frowned upon in most places as, apart from being quite bad for the artwork, it's also intrusive. If a monument bans cameras or video this will be clearly stated at the entrance.

In Paris, some churches allow photos eg Notre Dame in Paris, but both cameras and video are banned in La Madeleine. The Louvre allows photos but no flashes. However it's amazing how many visitors totally ignored the flash ban!

In Lyon last September, the Musee des Beaux Arts did not allow any photos. But it was OK to take photos in all churches.

In Avignon, photos are OK in the Palais des Papes, St Benezet's Bridge, and most churches including the Cathedral, and most museums, but not sure about the Museum of the Petit Palais.
