Cameras in London Theatres

Hi all...

I am planning on seeing The Woman in Black at Fortune Theatre in London this May and saw on LondonTheatreDirect.com that cameras are not allowed in the theatre. While I don't intend to take any pictures of the show, we would be going to the show after a day of sight-seeing, without first stopping at our hotel, and would have cameras with us. In theatres in Dallas, this would be no problem if you placed your camera in your purse before entering and never removed it...and I assume would be the same in London, but just want to check...I don't want to be turned away at the door because I have a camera on me that I don't intend to use anyway. Advice?

Thanks!

If your camera is in your handbag or pocket no one will even know you have it.

That's what I thought, but wanted some assurance...Thanks much!

Not in London, but in Paris I had the experience of showing up for a show and there was a security check to get in. I opened my purse for them to look inside and my camera was visible. So they took it and gave me a claim ticket and I picked it up after the show.

Our experiences have been like janisj's.

Thanks all... I did already purchase the tickets at a discount. I used the 2for1 discount available at www.daysoutguide.co.uk. This website is probably going to save me at least 300 GBP in admissions (Tower of London and Westminster Abbey to name a couple), tickets, and dining (figured we try out Palm Court Brasserie in Covent Garden before our show - and found a place online to make reservations already). I'm not sure how I even came across that website, but I'm glad I did. For this show, I believe 2 stall seats in Row H came out to 36 GBP - not bad at all. We have to pick up at the Will Call window at least an hour before the show, but that's not a big deal. We'll stop there before dinner. The 2for1 discounts are only good through June 3rd and our trip is the last week of May, so we'll barely be hitting that expiration date.
