RRT25, you haven't provided an information about your camera models and lenses, without it it's kinda hard to provide you knowledgeable answer. Please help us to help you :-)

As someone who makes a lot of pictures during my trips, I shoot with my digital SLR (Canon EOS 10D) with a few lenses (wide-angle, standard and tele-photo zooms). The quality of this setup seems to be excellent, but the weight of it kills my back at the end of each day.

The only arguments my husband and I ever used to have on our trips was regarding picture taking. So now we take both my Nikon 35mm. and his Olympus digital. I love having my beautiful photos after each vacation that I get to share with everyone. He seems to like all his photos swallowed up in the depths of the computer which I never seem to get to see.

Ira, I'm certainly not going to get into an argument about digital versus non-digital. I have both and find benefits and advantages to using each.

I don't understand the argument about prints. One can easily get any digital picture prints. I can upload them to various web services and have beautiful pictures mailed to me in a few days, or I can go to CVS and Walgreen and get them in minutes.

If someone's not printing their digital pictures, it's mostly because there's no need, as one can share digital files so much easier on the computer.

And one can have film scanned into digital files as well. So, there's really no limitation either way.

I've never even considered spending the time, effort, and money to squeeze a gigabyte of data through a transatlantic pipe for no reason.

This sounds like one of those techno-innovations whose only justification is "because I can."
