Cambridge -- can we visit during exams?
 

My husband and I want to visit Cambridge U. in early June. I've read that the "colleges are closed to visitors from mid-April to late June for exams". Does that mean the walking tours are not offered during that time? or does it mean you can't go INTO the buildings but you can still walk around the campuses? Would like to know before we plan a stop in Cambridge.

I'm bringing this to the top hoping to get an answer this time. We are leaving on Monday, May 24, and are still wondering about this question. Any answers this time? Please, please, please. <BR>

Hi, Kristin <BR> <BR>I am a student at Cambridge, and yes, we are all busy preparing for our exams. <BR> <BR>The colleges have put up notice boards outside the gates, saying that no visitors are allowed. I don't think there is any walk tours at the moment also. <BR> <BR>However, there should be no problem walking around/ INTO the colleges, as longer as you don't look like tourists! If you happen to bump into a porter, just explain that you are the parents of some student studying in that college. Even this is very unlikely to happen as long as you remember the trick --- try not to look like tourists! <BR> <BR>Hope you have a brilliant time in Cambridge! <BR> <BR>Christina

Surely out of a sense of security and common courtesy it is not a good nor polite idea to try and evade Cambridge U's decision not to have tours by pretending to be parents of students or anyone else. <BR> <BR>The stop to tours has been put in place for a reason, to allow students to study in peace. That IS the whole point of the uni being there after all!!!!!! For the students to study - not for the tourists to visit! <BR> <BR>Anyway - think they might get a tad suspicious at all the "parents" with cameras who dont know their childrens' names!! <BR> <BR>

Does anyone know when this period ends and tours begin again? <BR>
