Calling the UK from Austria
 

I have a UK mobile, and I will be in Austria this weekend but needing to call the UK. How do I do this?

Some UK mobile operators can make it surprisingly tricky to call home, as I discovered the other day when I took Mrs F's new model away with me by mistake.

Check with yours before you leave whether you need to deactivate some piece of confusion first.

You miss out the first 0 if you are phoning from abroad

Austrian networks generally allow roaming UK phones to dial out the normal UK number without international prefix (0044) and dropping the first '0'. If it doesn't work, try 0044 1865 263604.
