Calling all Paris "experts"...need your advice please

Here are the finalists in my search for a wonderful Paris hotel (no 4 star)...although nothing is written in stone, as yet). <BR>If you think these are poor selections,I would greatly appreciate your saying so. <BR>I have done my research and so far it looks like: <BR>Hotel De Fleurie <BR>Hôtel Caron de Beaumarchais. <BR>Relais St. Sulpice& <BR>HÔTEL D'AUBUSSON <BR>Paris experts...I need your advice <BR>We would like a nice staff w good service,, conveninent location and comfortable accomodations. <BR>Merci! <BR>Pam <BR> <BR>

Recommend you check out three hotels on the Ile Saint Louis...Hotel des Deux Iles, Hotel Lutece and Hotel Jeu de Paume. Ile Saint Louis is a delightful non touristy place to be...lots of good and reasonable eating spots and within walking distance of the Latin Quarter and Left Bank, the Marais, and Ile de la Cite (Notre Dame). A short metro ride to the Louvre and much more. I was just there in June. I am not familiar with the hotels you posted.

Several of us have posted high comments on the d'Aubusson in the past... great location, beautiful lobby/rooms, marble baths with lots of toiletries....LOCATION!

Hi Pam, <BR>My favorite French professor insists on staying at the Caron de Beaumarchais whenever he's in Paris. He says the restaurant nearby, "the Amadeo", (I think) is great, and says to get a room overlooking the side street. (Don't know if traffic is a noise factor or what.) <BR>Bon Voyage! <BR>BC

I stayed at the D'Aubusson, it's a 4 stars, not a three, although small. I liked it very much, and stayed there twice. I also like Rue Dauphine as location. Is very central, close to everything you could wish for. Getting to the Seine from there is a breeze, Notre Dame, D'Orsay, Louvre will be all at walking distance. All the staff speak excellent English, if that matters. <BR> <BR>I also visited the Caron, as friends were staying there. It's very charming, decorated with character, but the rooms are really small, at least those on the highest floor with a balcony ( BTW, it's called a balcony but one can barely step out). The Caron rates, though, are much cheaper than D'Aubusson's, and the Marais is also a different distric, so, it will depend on what your priorities are, and personal taste tends to. <BR> <BR>I've read rave reviews about the Fleurie, but just walked by. I don't really know the hotel <BR> <BR>I hope it helps. <BR> <BR>Surlok

We've stayed at the Caron de Beaumarchais. It is charming, and the staff is friendly and helpful. However, our room, facing an interior courtyard, was no bigger than my wife's walk in closet. Nevertheless, the neighborhood is great, within walking distance of Ile St. Louis, Notre Dame, Vosges and a plethora of smaller museums in the 4th.It's about 2 blocks north of rue de Rivoli(under which the main east-west metro line runs), and just a little south of many boutiques and restaurants well worth visiting. <BR>The neighborhood is not for the faint hearted. Not dangerous, at least during the day and early evening, but cutting, and sometimes over the, edge.

Had a close friend who recently stayed at the Hotel de Fleurie and loved it. Great location, nice rooms, and very helpful concierge.

Have heard rave reviews on hotel de fleurie, and was deciding between that and d'Aubusson. Then I found another hotel, Millesime, owned bythe same people as D'Aubusson but 3 star instead of 4 and considerably less expesive. staying there in Oct. If that's not too late I'll report back. My main reason for choosing it was it's on Rue Jacob, my favorite place to stay. They both have websites just do a search , not on Fodors, undr the names.

Just returned from Paris and stayed at the Millesime Hotel. What a find! Great location, relatively large rooms particularly for Left Bank location, English speaking EXTREMELY helpful staff, and a lot of charm. Have already recommended to friends, and plan to stay there again, and again, and again...

The Millesime belongs to the same owner as does D' Aubusson. It's a 3 stars and smaller, but as nice as D' Aubusson, and a little cheaper. <BR> <BR>Surlok

I'm familiar with all of these and have stayed at the Fleurie at least half a dozen times. It's one of the best three stars in a superb location. Contrary to one of the earlier posts, there is no concierge per se, but there's always someone helpful available at the front desk. It's a few steps off the Bd. St. Germain and close to the Rue Jacob. The neighborhood is excellent, far better than the Iles or the Marais from the standpoints of safety, esthetics, and proximity. The hitch is that you need to book far in advance. You might also want to consider: <BR>*Hotel St. Germain-des-Près 30 rooms <BR>36 rue Bonaparte – 6e <BR>double-1020, deluxe-1350 (breakfast, 75ff per person) <BR>website: www.hotel-st-ger.com/hotel-st-ger/index2.htm <BR>fax: 011-33-1-40-46-83-63 <BR> <BR>*Hotel Dauphine St. Germain-des-Près 30 rooms <BR>36 rue Dauphine – 6e <BR>double-1090 (breakfast, 91.80 per person) <BR>website: www.dauphine-st-germain.com/ <BR>fax: 011-33-1-43-26-74-34 <BR> <BR>*Hotel Le Regent 25 rooms <BR>61 rue Dauphine – 6e <BR>double-1150 (breakfast, 60 per person) <BR>website: www.france-hotel-guide.com/h75006regent.htm <BR>fax: 011-33-1-40-51-05-07 <BR> Good luck!

I loved the Hotel D'Aubussson. Like those hotels on the Ile St.Louis too but very touristy during the day.Hotel D'Aubusson is within walking distance to the Louvre and several really good restaurants as well as markets. The place to stay if you want to really explore the left bank.I can't say enough good things about the staff, service and the size of the rooms compared to most in Paris.Getting a taxi can be a little tricky but I would recommend this hotel and stay there again and again.

Another thumbs up for Millisime-we stayed there for two weeks last year. Great location on aside street, two blocks from St Germaine, and St G. Metro. Not a 4*, but not 4* prices either..bonne chance.
