Either day will work for me so I'll go with whatever the majority wants.

Either date is fine.

The 18th gets my vote, out of town on the 11th.

The 11th is better for me since my husband and I work every other weekend. I could probably make it alone on the 18th if the place is easy enough to find.

Good morning to all
The 18th would be ok with us, put us
down for two.
Richard of La Grange Park, Il...

The 18th is fine for me too! Sorry for the delay in responding. We have been away at a conference on the Balkans this weekend:)

Just another thought............how about the first or second weekend in January for the get together? This way everyone has time to plan;it would be great to visit during the winter dodrums and after holiday rush, etc.I am just tossing this out(so don't take my head off?)would anyone else prefer to have it out near the airport area or Schaumburg or someplace more in the central area of Chicago? The reason I am asking is that for alot of people-going into the city with the price of parking, traffic, etc. is sometimes a hassle depending on day and time of the year. The people from outside the city(Wisconsin and Indiana people)would have an easier time locating a place with easier on and off the tri state, etc.Whatever you guys decide-I will be willing to go to.I am very anxious to put the faces with names that have helped me through the years.Debbie

Why don't we do the 18th? And I suggest we nominate Beth the place chooser etc... [Anyone who can do statistics will be better at it than I would be!}

Let's shoot for the 18th. Cafe Iberico at 5:00 for those who can make it?
|
This is such a great idea! I am in Chicago, and can't commit (my schedule is pretty wacky), but will keep the date and place and time in mind. How fun...
|
so, this is for sure the 18th @ 5pm @ iberico? just want to confirm that it's a final decision.

thanks.
|
Looks that way!
Now will someone call Iberica? Do we need reservations?
And do we need a vaguely accurate count? [please remember that BETH has math as her forte, not me...]
|
Hey, math is definitely NOT my forte! But, I'd be happy to organize.

Sounds like Cafe Iberico is the place and November 18th the day. Now, lets talk time. I called Cafe Iberico and was told they do not accept reservations on Saturdays. Given this info, I think we need to set a time that is somewhat early. The hours on Saturday are noon to 1:30am. I would suggest 4:00pm CST. It gives the folks who will be coming in from out of town time to get there. It also will give us a good amount of time before the crowds start. It can get pretty loud once it starts to fill up with people.
Another scenario might be meeting at 1:00 or 2:00 and making it an afternoon event. We could be done by the time the crowds hit. What do you all think?

I also like Debbie's idea of planning something in January. I know I would love to meet again in January to talk about everyone's holiday travels. This would also allow some of the Chicagoans that can't make November's event to make plans well ahead of time to attend. We could also plan that one at a different location, maybe closer to the airport like Debbie suggested.

What do you think?

Beth

I am coming from Milwaukee and the 18th works for me. Can you recommend a nice clean safe hotel near the area - ha ha, sound familiar?

|
Way to go, Beth!!! I'm game for a 1:00 or 2:00 'get together' so we can beat the crowds. I, too, think it would be a terrific idea to also have a gathering some time in January. Sounds like things are coming together for the 18th.
|
I'd vote for 2-ish.
There is an Embassy Suites at 600 North State Street which is a few blocks south and east of Cafe Iberica. I'll check for some more places later this evening.

What is this, a love fest. Get a life people.
