Callander and Aberdeen lodging

Please recommend hotels/b&b's for Callander and Aberdeen. We will be stopping in Callander for 1 night driving from a meeting in Troon starting around noon. We plan to explore the Trossachs on the way. that is as far as we think is reasonable to travel and sightsee in an afternoon. Are we correct in that thought. We plan to explore the Northeast for 2 days/nights from there staying in or near Aberdeenas our base. We will go from aberdeen to Edinburgh for our last 2 nights staying at the Macdonald Holyrood. We did the west highlands on our first trip which were beautiful. Thanks

In Callander Rough Guide suggests a couple of B&B's:

The Priory and Arden House both in Bracklin Road.

There is also an old fashioned hotel called the Dreadnaught in the middle of town.

More suggestions from www.incallander.co.uk

Hasanyone stayed at lenymeade B&B in Callender?

I haven't stayed there - or any other B&B in/near Callander - because I always self cater for a week or more when I'm in that area.

But I do know where Lenymeade is and what it looks like. It seems very nice.

Or, for a bit of a splurge check out the Lake Hotel in Port of Menteith which is about 5 miles south of Callander. it is a nice place on the lakeshore (the only "lake" in Scotland) with a lovely across the lake to Inchmahome priory.

Either Lenymeade or the Lake hotel are very well located for touring around the area.

As for Aberdeen - I would not stay in Aberdeen. The city is interesting and there are a lot of things to see -- but there is MUCH more to see outside of the city. Again, I usually stay for a full week in a cottage or condo when I'm in that area or along Deeside so can't help you much w/ specific B&Bs.

I'd look somewhere like Bancory, Aboyne, maybe up near Alford or even down near Stonehaven.
