Calais to Caen
I'm taking the ferry from Dover to Calais early on a Monday morning and renting a car upon arrival. I am planning on driving to Caen immediatly after getting the car. Does anybody know how long the drive is from Calais to Caen? On my map it appears to be about 150 km, so I'm thinking about 2 hours? Will there be traffic?
Any help greatly appreciated!!!! Cheers |
By the A16/A28/A13, it's nearer to 200 MILES,not km.The shorter coast roads take you through a lot of towns.
The 12 miles or so round Rouen (which wasn't an autoroute last time I tried)is unpredictable. Otherwise, it's empty French motorway all the way. Say three and a half hours: more if Rouen's messed up |
I actually was in Caen last month and stayed in a great inexpensive place. However, because of your screen name I don't believe I want to help you. Besides, that's what Bill and Monica did

Have you considered taking the ferry to Caen instead? Brittany ferries have ferries from Portsmouth to Caen and then you could pick up your car in Caen.
