Calabria with Kids

Hi,
We're interested in taking a family vacation, probably in June 2008, with 6 adults and 7 kids (ages 4 to 12). We obviously don't want to move around and would love to rent a house from which we could explore. We'd love to be able to visit Costenza because my Dad was born there (or nearby) but would also like to set up camp someplace where there is enough for the kids to do (beach maybe, or other sites to explore). Can anyone recommend a location that has a lot to offer a family but from which we could still visit Costenza without too much trouble? Most of the family has never been to Italy so we don't want to be in too remote a part of Calabria . . .

I assume you mean "Cosenza" not Costenza. If so, the area around Paola is very nice. Good beaches and only about 40km from Cosenza.
