Venice Grand Canal Cruise/ Gondola Ride?
How do you book a Grand Canal Cruise/ Gondola Ride or, if it doesn't need to be booked, where do you go to find this? Any tips greatly appreciated, travelling tomorrow night!!

Gail, there is no "cruise" on the Grand Canal. You can buy a ticket on the "water bus" (vaporetto) that travels up the length of the canal. The #1 and #2 would both be options, though they do stop all along the canal. If you get a seat upfront- just take it all in.
If you're going to be in Venice awhile, then you can buy a one-day or 3-day vaporetto pass and just get off/on at leisure. (Make sure you validate every time you use the ticket. There are little machines at each stop, they kind of look like parking meters. Most, you just run your ticket across the eye and you will see a green light. That means the validation has occurred.)
If you want a "private" trip up the Grand Canal, you can hire a water taxi for E80. (The vaporetto single ride will be less than $5.)
There are hundreds of gondolas all over Venice. You find one that is empty and you tell the gondolier where you want to go. The standard rate is E80 before 7pm and that is a 1/2 hour ride. Sometimes you can negotiate with them for a longer ride. Perhaps 45 minutes for E125.
After 7pm, the standard rate goes up to E100.

Actually, there is a gondola Grand Canal cruise, of sorts. We booked one on short notice via a local travel agent in Venice. I can't remember the exact cost, as it was couple of years ago, but I can tell you it's a better deal than a single gondola ride, if you don't mind sharing a gondola.
I'm assuming you checked with the your hotel about it already.

If you want to just do "a ride", you can cross the canal on one for E1.50 (distance about 20m so you do the figures), it is about the world's most expensive journey, and only occurs at one point with the boat full.

Somehow I have the idea that you don;t actually realize what Venice is like.
Suggest you:
1) Get a good map and locate on it your hotel and the major sights you want to see - then check out the Grand Canal - the hundreds of other canals, the bacino and the lagoon
2) Check out the pix in a couple of tour books with tous that focus on Venice
And you see why a "cruise" doesn't make sense
