Madrid is a terrible bore. As far as restaurants are concerned, Spanish food is very simple fare. They do a lot of fancy preparation or seasoning. So one restaurant is about as god as another. We found that doing tapas bar rounds was far better and more fun than going to a regular sit down place.

bbib, You can download a free copy of Maribel's Guide to Madrid at: http://maribelsguides.com

The Tourist office of Madrid has a guide, a fold out map called "Madrid Restaurnates & Copas". The guide lists 107 restaurants and 8 Cafés Y Bares (coffee and drinks). This is just a small sampling.

For a listing of all of nearly every restaurant and tapas bar in Madrid, then check out the following web site: http://www.reservatumesa.com
