Caernarvon

Hi,

I'm in Caernarvon on the weekend of 23/24 February for a weekend-long surprise birthday party that I've planned for some months.

Does anyone know of anything going on in the area for those dates? I heard there is a mountain film festival taking place at Llanberis...?

Also, any ideas on things to see and do in the area that aren't necessarily specific to the weekend in question?

Any input would be greatly appreciated... ;-)

Paul

Castle Feb 12th, 2002 02:19 PM

Has anyone been to the castle there?

Castle, yes, I've been there and it is worth the trip. The castle is in pretty good condition (restored) and there are some nice local shops and a small market adjacent to the grounds. Go for it if you get the chance!

There are frequent buses from Caernafon to Llanberis for Snowdonia mountain train(probably too cold for hiking),to Porthmadog for Potmeirion Village,to Conwy for the castle,or visit Bangor the university town with the smallest ongoing Cahedral in G.B.

I stayed in Caernafon for 4 nights last October,it was an interesting town and very convenient base for visiting northwest Wales.

Yes, the castle is worth a visit. If you like castles there are others in Conwy (as mentioned), Beaumaris, Cricceth and Harlech. They are worth your time if you have the interest and the means of transportation.
