Cadiz or Jerez in December
I am staying in Seville for 5 days at the end of December and would like to do a day trip to Cadiz or Jerez. Any suggestions on which of these would be best? My best guess is that we would do this on Dec 29th... not sure if that affects the advice or if there would be any festivals worth paying attention to.
Any favorite spot for lunch or site not to be missed? Thank in advance for your help! |
I don't know Cadiz. If you go to Jerez, you should consider buying tickets for the horse show at the "Escuela Real"
This is what Jerez is most known for in addition to the sherry bodegas. The horse shows might be sold out already and only show on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and Dec 29 is a Friday. I'd suggest getting tickets online in advance if interested. www.escuelareal.org |

I've been to both, and I would recommend Cadiz. Jerez was imo a big nothing, although I enjoyed the visit to the sherry bodegas.

Jerez ain't a great looking town - one of the most depressed economically towns in Spain but the sherry bodegas and horse show are spectacular - Cadiz I found to be a pleasant seaside city but without much 'there' there - You could do both in one longer day - they are close together.

It will be fairly quiet at the end of December, and a little early to be sitting on the beach in Sanlúcar, but a day-trip to Cadiz should be interesting. http://maribelsguides.com/Sherry_Triangle.pdf
