Cadaques from Barcelona?
We will be in Barcelona May 19-28 and are considering an overnight trip to Cadaques. Since we will be with our 1 year old son, will it be best to rent a car? How long of a drive is it from Barcelona and could we fit in Girona?
Here's a tentative plan: Leave Barcelona in the AM, late morning-afternoon in Girona, leave for Cadaques around 3PM, spend night in Cadaques, leave for Barcelona around 3pm the next day. Doable?

Doable, yes, but you'll want to spend more time in Cadeques. It's gorgeous, small, easy to walk around without a car, lots of good places to eat, and would be perfect for you with your 1 year old. We stayed at Llane Petit Hotel right on the water. Very reasonable, delicious breakfast, perfect place. Ask for a corner room. http://www.llanepetit.com
I can't remember how long the drive was from Barcelona but I'm sure it wasn't more than two hours. Enjoy!

Kathy,
Frankly, I'd skip Girona all together and go to directly to Cadeques. I think it would be better to do it after Barcelona since you'll probably be tired and this is a very restful and beautiful place to unwind. Better to make it 2 days instead of one there.
You'll love Barcelona, the whole city is like an art museum; the architecture is fabulous. Have a wonderful time!

Hi Nancy,
I think we may just do that. We'll go straight to Cadaques and may stop in Girona just for dinner, if time permits. I contacted the Llane Petite and was quoted a rate of 110E per night, does this soudn about right? We'd love to spend more time in Cadaques/Costa Brava, but we are already renting an apartment in El Borne for the entire time we're in Spain...
We are really looking forward to Cadaques!

Dear kathyl:
Please post a report when you return. We will visit Cadeques June 8-11, staying at Playa Sol. We will also be moving on to Barcelona, Lleida & Pamplona to visit cousins.
Have a nice trip,
