Caceres hotel rec - Not the Parador

Any suggestions of hotels in Caceres besides the Parador, which is apparently closed during our trip? We have one extra night to spend, mid March, between Seville and Madrid and having read trip reports on the Extremadura, this seems like a good destination. We will have a car and would just like a nice one-night stop. Thanks!

You can check out Hotel Alameda Palacete and NH Palacio de Oquendo in Cáceres. There are several other decent hotels located outside of the city.

Other hotels in the city you can check out are the Hotel Alfoso IX (www.hotelalfonsoix.com), Casa Don Fernando (www.casadonfernando.com) and Hotel AH Agora Cáceres (ww.hotelagoracaceres.com).

Thank you for the reply. Do you know why the Casa Don Fernando is listed as a "specialty lodging" in tripadvisor? It looks like a nice hotel, but was wondering why it wasn't in the normal hotel section.

It's probably listed as a "specialty lodging" on TA because it's a couples hotel, for that romantic get-a-way, but it also offers babysitting services. It's also situated on the Plaza Mayor, which is special.
