Cab prices

I'm wondering if anyone knows the cost of a cab from Gard. Du Nord train station to I'isle. St Louis. We are staying in a hotel there and they will send their shuttle for 30 Euro for 2 people. Don't know if that is a good price.

I opened this thread because I wanted to know if someone really wanted to know the price of canned goods in France. I have asked the editors if they can fix your thread title so you can get accurate advice. I'm not sure if they will be able to do it.

Off hand, I would say that E30 is high for the distance.

Please proof read - it's to your benefit.

Me too, Adrienne, I was going to say that a can is una lattina in Italian and costs vary between supermarkets and snackbars.

Me three - was looking forward to being highly amused! But cab prices...sigh...run of the mill question :)

I was totally intrigued, as despite 30 years of traveling in France I've never been concerned about the price of cans.

Obviously one can't nail down the price of a cab from point A to point B, as there are too many variables: weather, traffic, strikes, déviations, etc., but 30 euro seems high for that short a distance.

We found the fare estimates here to be fairly accurate over several taxi trips we took last year. They say 8.85€ for your trip.

The cost is extremely variable depending on the day of the week, the time of day/night and the traffic conditions. It will not break the bank, but if you are at Gare du Nord, you might do better by taking the RER B to Saint Michel-Notre Dame and exit at the rear of the train which will bring you up several escalators directly in front of Notre Dame and only a couple of hundred meters from Ile Saint Louis.

The taxi line at Gare du Nord can be long and take up to 20-30 minutes to get a cab. So, paying 30E for a taxi that is waiting for you may be worth it.

The other thing to consider is luggage. A cab charges extra for that - a car service won't. Although I still thik a cab would be much cheaper.

And the RER will get you there in less than 10 minutes. So many things to consider!

Wow, you people are tough!! I'm old and on a IPhone !! It seems as if you figured it out. Thanks for all of the useful guidance.

Try using www.taxifarefinder.com!

I have used this site in the past to find out the cost of a taxi fare and it has always proven to be very accurate. They have a specific fare calculators based on a regions or cities rates so that the estimate is always very close to the actual fare. Just plug in your two points and your done! Hope this helps!
