ca' gottardi, gli angeli, ai do mori? Venice

Once again I'm looking for advice from travellers who have been to Venice about which of these choices looks like the best:

http://www.casagottardi.it/eng/index_ing.html
in the Rialto area

http://www.gliangeli.net/
in the Castello area

http://www.hotelaidomori.com/
right at St. Mark's square.

Gottardi looks more central but in a not very pretty area, and Gli Angeli might be in a more charming area, but it's a bit further out.

I'm a bit worried about the 3rd one, being so close to St. Mark's, might be too noisy and touristy.

Of course these are impressions I've discerned, and I stand to be corrected.

It's our first trip to Venice, and we're quite prepared to walk where we need to go.

Thanks for your help.

Markland, Ca'Gottardi as listed in your topic is actually a different place than Casa Gottardi. Ca'Gottardi is a boutique hotel on Strada Nova.

Right you are. Casa Gottardi is the correct one. Thank you.

We stayed at Gli Angeli last month for five nights. It is a bit out of the way - and if you want walk anywhere, you must walk toward St. Mark's Square - through the throngs of people. We enjoyed our stay at Gli Angeli - the price was definitely good - but next time I would pick a different location - something more central - but away from St. Mark's Square.

hi markland,

of the three, i think that I prefer the first and last - the one in castello is too far out for a first time visit. you would find yourselves going back and forth along the same streets - which gets boring after a while.

OTOH, the third one is too close to the action - you would have to fight through the heathen hordes to get anywhere.

therefore, of the three I would pick the first - it's by a canal, [in fact the GRAND canal] near the rialto so pretty central for anything you want to see [and a very good vaporetto stop just across the bridge] so you won't be going over the same route every time.

have a great trip,

regards, ann
