Buying tickets to Uffizi gallery
Hi:
We are planning to visit Uffizi when we are in Florence(we will be there on a Sunday). Do you recommend buying the tickets from here? We will be in Florence on Sept 4th. Thanks |
Hi Putti,
Cutting and pasting from my own notes, that I have cut and pasted originally from Ira's Italy helpful hints thread: Uffizi and Academia Museum Reservations, The easiest and cheapest way is to call Florence 011 (U.S. international access code) 39 (Italy's country code) then 055-294-883 8:30-18:30 M-F and 8:30-12:00 Sat. Florence time. You will get an English speaking operator and in 2-3 minutes YOU CAN RESERVE FOR BOTH. This is through the reservation service at the Uffizi and costs beyond the normal entry fee only about 3 euro for the service. This is MUCH cheaper than the commercial booking services. You will not be charged for the reservations unless you use them. Happy travels, Tiff |
Buy tickets from here and do it as soon as possible. We have friends who are visiting Florence this month and they had a difficult time getting reservations for a time when they would be in Florence. I have read on this forum this summer that some were unable to reserve even when they called as long as 3 weeks in advance. Call 011-39-055-249-833. And don't miss the David at the Accademia, you can make a reservation at the same telephone #.

Just in case you want to check these out... :) So much good info!

Try your hotel too. Ours booked both the Uffizzi and the Accademia for us. We by-passed long lines and paid a small premium for the convenience of pre-booked tickets.

Hi P,
I suggest the following order, 1. Follow Tiff's advice 2. Ask your hotel to make reservations 3. Buy from a for-profit agency online ((I)) |
I second the advice to try to reserve NOW if you're planning to go on the 4th. I called two weeks ago to reserve for Sept. 15th and the only slot open was at 5:00 PM. Good luck!

Aren't there a supply of tickets that are not reserved - for the walk up crowd? Or are all tickets reserved and therefore liable to be booked. Can't just show up and wait (and wait) in line? I think the museum is open late at night some nights to alleviate crowding?

Hi Pal,
>Aren't there a supply of tickets that are not reserved - for the walk up crowd?..... Yup. When we were there one Sept, the line for those with res was about 20 min, for those without 2:30 hr. ((I)) |
All times are GMT -8. The time now is 07:26 PM. |
