Buying tickets online for the Scrovegni Chapel
 

I have been trying for 2 days to purchase tickets online for the Scrovegni Chapel. You must register on the website they send you to in order to purchase the tickets. It won't let me register. I get all the way through including indicating that I don't have an Italian tax code. When I click continue, it tells me I've entered the wrong number for the tax code. I have clicked on the "no" box for the tax code and it keeps changing it to "yes". Anyone else had this problem in trying to purchase these tickets? Any suggestions for how to fix it?

My husband and I visited the Scrovegni Chapel in July, 2012.

I booked our tickets on the website--there was a link posted here in Fodorville.

I had no problems, printed the vouchers with time slot, and picked up the tickets in the museum lobby.

No problems whatsoever.

There was no mention of any tax code, but we are American.

Pick them up in Padua. We were in town on business for a week in the Fall and our date of choice was very easy to obtain same day. It does not rank up there w/ the Alhambra or the Borghese Gallery, etc., in our estimation. You may wish to look up boat tours from Venice to Padua stopping at Palladian villas. Padua lovely city to explore; the train is so convenient.

Well, of course you pick the tickets up in Padova.

Everyone picks up their tickets at the desk in the museum lobby.

But you have to make a reservation for a time slot online or by telephone.


Writing that the Giotto frescoes don't rank with the Alahambra in Granada is an ignorant comment.

I had exactly the same experience booking tickets as P Von S, i.e., no problems. Could you be looking at the wrong website or the wrong part of the website, perhaps one for commercial tours ordering tickets in bulk? That would account for the request for your tax number.

I also agree that saying one world cultural site "does not rank up there" with another is ignorant. The most one can say is that "I did not enjoy it as much as I enjoyed the Alhambra" or "the pictures in the Borghese were more to my taste."

"In our estimation does not rank" is merely IMHO, like everyone else's on this forum. That Chapel is not on my Top 100 for Italy. Perhaps my neck hurt trying to look up for the few minutes we had before being ushered in and out. That said, I suggested that LisaE reserve/order/pick up her tickets from Padua since she complained having much trouble doing otherwise. Online ticketing is fantastic for obvious reasons, but if there's a glitsch, there might be an alternative! The other sights I mentioned are far more likely require far-in-advance preticketing. Ackislander, I would say what is ignorant is thinking there are 'pictures' in the Borghese rather than paintings, but must confide it's the sculptures that rock my boat (Bernini & Canova). LisaE, I do hope you enjoy the Chapel.

There is an alternative--I wrote it above--you can phone the museum.

The phone # is at the top of the website.

It is nobody's fault if you are so out of shape that your neck hurts from looking at paintings for 20 minutes.

You should have brought binoculars.

You can also book back-to-back tickets for double time in the chapel.

Dear Pepper Von Snot: So I guess I'll add neck exercises to my workout routine. But have already had P/T for neck, thanks. I hope you tell LisaE to bring binoculars or those mirrors tourists walk around with for such. I hope if and when you have stenosis, your neurosurgery is successful, but you probably wont be looking at many ceilings afterwards. Perhaps I should've laid on the floor but thought it verboten.

When you had your neck surgery you also must have gone in for a lobotomy because only a driveling fool would disparage Giotto.

You obviously don't lunch with Damien Hirst at the Groucho.
