Buying tickets online for entertainment in Rome, Amsterdam or Barcelona
I'd like to purchase some tickets online, before I go, for any type of concert, opera, show in a major venue (Concertbegouw, Palau de Catalunia etc. ) . I haven't had much luck with finding a website for any of these where I can easily make an online purchase. Any suggestions?

And for the Palau is Palau de la Musica (sometimes only called Palau)
http://www.palaumusica.org/
click on english and then programation and sales of tickets.
Talking about opera, that would be the Liceu :

When are you going?

This site is in Dutch only I'm afraid, but it has pretty much everything going on in Amsterdam listed there
www.amsterdamsuitburo.nl. Happy to translate anything for you.
If I know when you are in town I can search further for you.
A lot of concerts may already be sold out though if you are coming soon.

Leaving this Sat. With everything else, I haven't spent a lot of time seeking entertainment, but whenever I try, I always seem to get frustrated and give up. These are my dates if anyone can point me to anything good I'd appreciate it. It doesn't necessarily have to be a major venue though that would be better, as I'd like to see the halls. Obviously, since I only speak English, would prefer something not to talky.
These are my nights:
2/28 - 3/3 Rome
3/4 - 3/7 Amsterdam
3/8 - 3/10 Ghent
3/11-3/13 Barcelona
Thanks

Hetismij,
Thanks for the link, I just used it and I think I bought tickets. (After the first page it's all Dutch.)
It took me a while but with the aid of Babelfish.com, I managed to get through, and learned a little Dutch in the process. The funniest was trying to find United States in the dropdown (Verenigde Staten.)
We're going to see the West Enders. I hope the tickets are for pick up at the box office, and not being mailed to my house.
Tomorrow I'll try for the Palau.

I got a confirmation from the Concertgebouw today. It says I can pick up at the box office. (Thank goodness for Babelfish.com.)
It's interesting, when looking at Dutch it has a lot of similarities to English.

We loved the concert and the experience at the Palau de la Musica - one of my all time favorite buildings. We bought our tickets online. Make sure to bring the same credit card you used to purchase your tickets online to the venue since that is the only way to get the tickets.
Enjoy!
Enjoy!

Just realize now that you were probably gone. Not knowing your age, I doubt you might like the concert in the Palau at your dates : Los Planetas, a pop group from Granada. Maybe you´ll be luckier at the Liceu.

Hi Cova,
I'm leaving today, luckily the snow stopped here and hopefully no delays (JFK NYC).
I tried the Palau website and it sent me to a ticket site where I couldn't find a place to enter a date. I'll try again when I'm in Europe. Barcelona is at the end of my trip so I have time.
I don't care about the group so much as experiencing the inside of that beautiful theater.
I took a look at the Italian tickets site, the theater for my day that I wanted Mar 2, is a little out of the way, though I think I can get there by a special bus. The show is Opera singers singing various arias, not a full opera, not sure if I'll go for that, or just go out clubbing that night.
.
Thanks to you and everyone else for the help.

here's the site in english.
you can also book a guided tour if you can't find a performance you like. we went to one that was a mixture of flamenco and opera which was a bit weird. but the building is very beautiful, both inside and out. unfortunately you can't see the outside very well because of the surrounding buildings.
have a great trip,

OK, so if you are planning on going clubbing ... that might work
. Los Planetas are not bad at all, and they are introducing their new album, an indie take-out on the different flamenco styles. Not for purists, but it sounds interesting.
The website might be www.servicaixa.com . You must look first for the venue and then for the dates.
Hope the weather is better when you arrive to Spain. Right now it is dreadful.

Postscript:
I wound up buying tickets in person for the Palau. Saw a wonderful Flamenco show with Antonio (is he famous?) Was a little disappointed that the show only lasted 1 hour 30 min, though. The theater was gorgeous to see.
As for the Concertgebouw. That theater is also beautiful to see. Like being inside a ceramic jewel box. Enjoyed the Westenders (a quartet of show tune singers) and the Whalers (a 70 man choral group) immensely.
The 2 shows were definitely among the highlights of the trip.

hi governator
glad it all worked out for you. the Palau is fabulous, isn't it?
you were luckier than us in amsterdam- we wanted to go to a concert at the concertgebouw, but we couldn't convince our kids and they were too young to leave. it was Barenboim!
