Buying tickets for Eurostar & Thalys directly in Europe in February?

I am planning of visiting London, Paris and Brussels for the first time in February. I am traveling from Boston. Since the weather is unpredictable I have not purchased tickets for Eurostar or Thalys through the online service. I was planning of buying the train tickets before departure. That way I have flexibility with the schedule as well. Should I wait to buy the tickets in Europe or should I purchase the tickets over the internet ahead of time? Does anyone have experience in purchasing tickets directly at the counter for Eurostar during the month of February?

If you don't buy Eurostar tickets in advance you'll probably end up paying the top fares - which are a few hundred dollars more than the cheapest

If you wait to buy your Thalys ticket, you might be able to get a last-minute discount fare (if available). But as alanRow says, waiting to buy a Eurostar ticket will cost you dearly.

I was in Lyon, France in Feb. 06. My sister and I purchased advance tickets for day trips to Paris on the TGV and on a local train to Geneva, Switzerland. Because we know very, very little french having the tickets in advance worked out perfect. I would definately recommend it. Having it planned was the biggest advantage, with your tickets in hand you just had to figure out where to be at the right time, instead of figuring out where to buy tickets etc. If you are purchasing in a place where you know the language it may not be as big of deal.
