Buying TGV tickets

I haven't bought TGV tickets on line for a few years, and need to buy Prems today. Do I need to put our passport numbers on line to buy these tickets? I don't have access to our daughter's passport until late tonight, so wonder if that's a problem.

I live in the Eastern time zone in the United States. What time can I buy tickets? We'll be buying tickets for September 17. I can read French so it's no problem using the French site.

Thanks so much for any help you can provide.

No, you don't need the passports. And it's a website, so you can buy tickets 24/7.

Thanks StCirq. I know it's a website, but they release tickets 90 days out. This evening is 90 days, so I was wondering what time they're released on the website. 6 p.m. east coast time in the U.S. it's midnight in France. Maybe then??

Sept. 17 isn't the height of the travel season for either the French or visitors, so there should be no rush exactly at midnight on the first available date.

Even at this time of year, it isn't that much of a problem. Just as an example, a few weeks ago I decided to go to Lille from Paris over a weekend. I got a 25€ 1st class ticket for Paris-Lille on a Saturday morning, and a 20€ 2nd class ticket coming back yesterday afternoon. I was curious to see what the price was for Lille-Paris if I had had to buy a ticket on the spot for the train I was taking. I went to one of the ticket machines and asked for a seat on the next train to Paris. The cheapest walk-up fare was 56€. Ouch!

Thanks so much! Lucky Stu. We'll be there in 3 months:)

Oh, I get it, you're talking about the 3-months-out thing. As mentioned, I wouldn't go to special lengths to be online the second they're available for a train at that time of year.

It's not a Madonna concert, you know.

Ha, ha! Yes, I know. I just like to get the lowest prices possible. We travel a lot so I need to watch the $'s!

I just purchased the tickets, just after 6 p.m. Eastern time! They printed fine. One less thing to do!
