Buying shoes in London
 

Another question for shops-I have very small feet and have always problems when I am looking for shoes in germany (where I am living). I am planning a London -Trip for august and would love to look there for shoes. Good quality high heels and boots for the city. I know the usual shops like Bally and the department stores but perhaps someone could tell me about the less known shops?

I also have small feet and don't have much luck finding shoes that fit in London (saves me a LOT of money on my trips). Besides most stores not carrying small size shoes - the average last in the UK is much wider than where I live in the USA. So shoe shopping in London is really just window shopping for me.

But a couple of places to check out are Gordon Scott in New Bond St, and Harrods (but Harrods doesn't have many lines that come in small sizes)

Try Marks & Spencer. They have an incredible shoe department.

Agree that buying shoes in London can be a big problem for women unless you have wide feet - or can have them custom made. I looked invain - and was told I would have to have them custom made.

(In the US B is average for women and AA or AAA is narrow - I understand that in England and europe a C or even D width is the average.)

Good Lord, don't buy clothes or shoes in England; due to their tariff protections, they have the highest clothing prices in Europe, except maybe for Scandinavia. I'd buy shoes in Milan, Italy, if anywhere

I agree with Bolt - it is very difficult nowadays to find value in London ( maybe apart from shirts at Lewins in Jermyn St at the sales they seem to have every few months!) and if you do find good products they seem to be produced in Europe or Asia.
If you are looking for handmade shoes at a price premium I would recommend that you visit a few of the Mens shoemakers around the arcades and Jermyn St and maybe Churches and ask where the best womens shoes can be made or found.

Emma Hope makes beautiful, beautiful shoes. She has a couple of stores in London, I think.... one in Sloane Square close to the fabulous ribbon shop VV Rouleax. She also has a shop on Westbourne Grove in the Notting Hill area. She designs expensive, beautiful shoes that are little works of art.

Also on Westbourne Grove are Scorah Patullo (carries various brands) and Jane Brown shoes.
Gina(ginashoes.com) has shops on Old Bond Street and Sloane Street. Jimmy Choo is London-based and has shops on New Bond Street and Draycott Ave in the Brompton Cross area of S.Ken/Knightsbridge.
For shoes that are a easier on the pocketbook, try Office.
What can I say? I like shoes. Too bad I didn't marry someone with a foot fetish.
