Buying Rolex watch from Bucherer

Last month, I bought a Rolex watch from Bucherer shop, Switzerland without any plan in advance. Once I got back home, I googled to find more details of the watch I bought by a reference number shown on the receipt. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any watch looking like the one in my hands. With the same reference number, I could find only one Rolex watch which almost looks alike except dial's design and color.

Is it possible that this watch is not original because the shop changed the dial and sold it without telling me?

PS. The one I bought was shown in the front display of the store.

Thanks.

The logical step to take is to immediately address your concerns to Bucherer.

How would anyone on this forum know whether or not a dial had been changed?

Anything is possible.

Calling Bucherer's is best but here's another option. If you can find a certified repairman (or woman) for Rolex in your area then that person could perhaps shed some light on the subject. Not just any jeweller can repair a Rolex, they must be certified. I know this because my friend's husband is one of a very small handful of certified Rolex repairmen in my city.

My husband bought a Tag Heuer watch at Bucherer in Lucerne in 2002. He has never seen a similar watch in the US. However, he has had it repaired by a certified Tag repair shop and the watch is perfectly legitimate.

I think there are just certain models that are sold exclusively in Europe and other models sold in the US market. Simple as that.

Thank you so much for all suggestions.

Nothing really to do with your legitimate question, but. DS took his senior trip to NYC and his buddy bought a "ROLEX" on the street. Jack (buddy) said, "Man this is cool. If it's still running tomorrow I'm gonna buy another."
Glad others can offer real advice!! LOL

DH said there were fake Rolex watch sellers in Singapore but Bucherer is a well known high end store in Switzerland.

Maybe it's an older model of that reference number...?

Jean, what do you mean by that?

Not all Rolex watches with the same reference number will look the same.

Granted, the examples in this link are all pre-owned, but note the many versions of the classic Day-Date President (ref. no. 18238):

The serial number reflects approximately when the watch was made, but you may have to contact Rolex to interpret your particular serial number. See if this helps:

Here's some info on identifying fakes.
