Buying PREMS: When "exactly" does 90-days-out begin??
Crazy question perhaps but what time zone does the SNCF use to determine their 90-days-out policy for posting available PREMS?
I've checked ticket prices for 1 senior and 4 adults traveling from Rennes to Avignon on September 21. So far, the cheapest tickets are 368 euros. It says "senior fare" I guess because of my husband. Is this price a good fare or should I wait until the famous 90-days-out PREMS which I guess begins tomorrow (after midnight EST??). Thanks! |
This is wild guess, but since it's in France, I would assume it's local time in France.

Gotta be pegged to France time, I should think. Knowing the French, they'd never pick someone ELSE's time zone!
|
You would think so but June 25 is my 90-days-out date, unless of course I miscounted! Anyway, it should already be June 25 in France! That's what made me question the "exact clock". Do they sometimes not sell PREMS for a given route? Meanwhile, I'll recount my days.

Success! Decided to archive PREMS on this fodor's site and discovered a post that made the process of buying the PREMS not only understandable but doable! Not sure if they would have ever appeared the way I was searching, but I have them now. From Rennes to Avignon, we paid 100 euros for 4 of us! Not bad, eh? I went in again and tried to buy our next leg, but it's not 90-days-out yet. You can betcha that I'm counting the days!

They may, for some dates when a very high affluence is expected (beginning or end of french summer holidays for instance) And about the EXACT hour when the PREMS are on line, i doubt it to be very precise ; after the database daily maintenace operations and when the number of people connected is minimal : sometihing between 2 ot 3 AM local time i suppose |
Very interesting, norween. This "flexibility" might bring increased anxiety to most Americans who tend to be "demanding and precise" towards what business offers. The competition for the PREMS is hightened if one must watch the screen for several hours for "the purchasing to begin." Thanks for your comment.
