Buying phone cards in italy
 

Would anyone know how much it is to buy a phone card in Italy and how many minutes it's good for. We used to buy them at a tabac but am not sure if that still works today.

I am visiting Italy now. You can purchase a new SIM card from an Italian cell phone provider (VODAFONE, WIND, TIM) not at a tabac but in Vodafone Store, or Tim store or Wind store. The Vodafone SIM card costs 10 Euro, which includes 5 Euro time.

You can buy a Tim card for about 10€ which will include 5€ of time on the card. I found Wind to be more expensive. You need to also consider the connect fee each time (TIM was .20) and the per minute charge to the country you will be calling.

In Rome, the TIM store people tend to be very good looking. (un PC, I know, but someone said they purposely hire good looking sales people) I bought my SIM cards (for phone and iPad) from "George Clooney." It was an easy sale. He spoke great English, too. :-)
