Buying Opera Garnier English guided tour tickets beforehand

Hi everyone,

My family and I are going to Europe this summer for the first time. Is it possible to buy tickets for the Opera Garnier English guided tours ahead of time? Has any one taken this tour and was it worth it? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you very much.

Here is the link for purchasing advance tickets for the tour from FNAC:

As far as I can tell, the tickets are undated (and not specific to other the English or French tour) so I decided that it probably did not make sense to purchase them in advance. Maybe someone else will post with more info.

From what I have read, the tour is worth it, and it is on our itinerary for our May/June trip. We arrive in Paris one month from today!

I would suggest just getting tickets at the booth. The tour is very worthwhile. Funny I had never noticed that there are no trees on the Avenue del'Opera, reason being that Garnier insisted.

Just go. If you were able to buy the tickets in advance it just becomes a stress factor. What if the Metro or bus is late? We walked in, bought the tickets, took the tour. all without advanced planning. If you have to wait for the next tour, there is plenty in the neighborhood to occupy you.

The tour is nice but nothing compares to going to a performance at the Opera Garnier. If you don't mind sitting up high (near the Chagall seating), the seats are not a whole more expensive than the tour.

I have successfully received ticket vouchers for the English guided tour of the Palais Garnier. You can only do it by phone. From Canada the number is 011 33 173036003 or I also believe 011 33 170391469. The link is www.cultival.fr. The voucher is all in French but I verified by e-mail that it is for the English Guided tour and you can pick your day and time in July or August of 11:30 or 2:30. You have to arrive 10 or more minutes before to exchange the voucher for a ticket. A co-worker recently saw the Palais Garnier without the guided tour and she loved it.

Sincerely yours,

I took the guided tour last month and enjoyed it.

I had been inside the Opera Garnier twice before, but this was my first time taking the guided tour. It's worth visiting whether you take the tour or not, but we had a good tour guide and I recommend the tour if you can do it.

We tried to get tickets the day ahead of time on site but they told us we could only buy tickets on the same day of the tour. I did not know about the FNAC option or I might have tried it, since I had been to FNAC to buy Versailles tickets. But we had no problem buying same day tickets, about 20 min. ahead of time.

Is it possible to get inside the Opera without a tour ticket to just see the stairway and some of the beautiful interior? If so,
what areas are you allowed to just walk around and see? is it possible to peek into the main performance hall without being part of a tour?
Thanks!
