Buying luggage in Rome??
 

Panicked mom writes this plea for help! :) My daughter is ending a 10 day trip through Europe, and on day 7 her suitcase completely falls apart! She is with a tour group that will be traveling to Rome on the last leg of the trip. In between being shuffled with 40 kids from the Vatican and to every Roman relic that one day in Rome allows, my 16 year old will have to find a store that sells luggage. It just has to hold her clothes and make the flight back home so any inexpensive suggestions would be great, end of the trip means end of the money! :) I have searched the web and they name the same stores: Coop, Coin, Auchaun, Oviesse, Standa, but I can't find actual websites to check and see if they actually carry suitcases?? Rome's answer to Target would be ideal, but when in Rome....Please, help! I need to text her by tomorrow. Thank you, fellow travelers!! :)

Jain, there is a "brics" luggage store just off the north end of the via del corso [the main shopping street in Rome] near the Trevi fountain.

i looked at Coin but couldn't find that they sell luggage, thoguh they might do.

there are surely many other shops in Rome that also sell it, but Brics and the via del Corso would be her best bet.

Carpisa sells relatively inexpensive luggage all over Italy. They should have a branch at Stazione Termini, one at Piazza di Spagna and one at via del Corso.

She doesn't need a store that sells luggage. She just needs to keep her eye out for a market, or a kiosk, or a street vendor near or in a train station that sells a rip-stop nylon duffel or a big backpack for 20 euros or less. In the meantime, she should go into a hardware store and buy duct tape.

Stevewith posted what I was thinking. Even some souvenir kiosks have duffles. And there should be venders near the station.

Some of the souvenir stores on Via Cavour (runs from Rome Termini train station to the Forum) will have inexpensive luggage. The stores within a couple of blocks will have more of this type thing.

I have seen loads of shops laden with luggage and travel goods just outside the Termini on your left across Via Giolitti or on your right as you emerge on Via Marsala.
